The Cookie Fairy Arrived

Yesterday my Mom who is still visiting during my recovery from surgery opened the front door and there was a shopping bag on the front step with this huge assortment of cookies from cookiesbydesign.com.  The good cookie fairies are My brother Kevin and his wife Stella.  Thank you so much!!! They are yummy.

What for Dinner? Lots!

Since my surgery, when I have the energy I try to put in 2 or 3 hours a day in the office and Mom is visiting and helping at work.  Today Henry picked us up on his way home and dropped us off and he went to get a haircut.  As he dropped us off he asked if we have anything for dinner in the house I said I would check. As Mom and I approached the door I saw a big big white cooler with Omaha Steak Company on the front and knew our "What's for Dinner?" question was answered, and then some.

This wonderful gift was sent courtesy of my cousin Jen and her husband Brian from the east coast.  A big foodie thank you to both of you!!! Your timing could not be better.  Henry will be very surprised when he gets home from his haircut.  In this lovely cooler are gourmet franks, ground beef burgers, boneless chicken breast, pork loin chops, stuffed sole fillets, beef top sirloin steaks and potatoes au gratin.  We are going to be eating well this week!

Not only did we get food in this great cooler, but the foodie kid in me also got a toy, dry ice.  I couldn't help resist playing with some to make some white vapor by dropping the dry ice in some water.  Ok, ok, I am 45 but I am still a kid deep down!

Hopes Country Fresh Cookies

Yesterday after getting home from a Doctors visit, there was a package on the front steps.  It was from my long time friends Shelley & Steve from New York which I have know for the better part of 24 years.  Steve was my first boss after college at Grey Advertising and we have stayed friends and in contact since.  The package contained cookies from Hopes Country Fresh Cookies, and these cookies live up the their name, they are fresh and incredibly yummy.

Thanks Shelley and Steve!! They are being enjoyed very much!

Turtle Anyone?

Today there was a knock on the front door and the delivery man handed over a bag which contained these unique Turtle Cookies from Cookies by Design wishing me a speedy recovery.  The card read "Cuz! Stay positive. . . eat cookies! Oh, and don't forget sunscreen when in "Hawaii"!"    Whenever I have to go through icky things with doctors or hospitals, mentally I go to Hawaii.  Later today I have to head to the doctor to have staples removed from my surgery and find out if chemo or radiation are in the future post operation.

Good Tidings- Yum Yum Yum

Today the UPS man knocked on the front door delivering good tidings from my Aunt Carol & Uncle Johnny.  The box was from Dean & Deluca so I knew I was in for a treat before I even opened the box.  Inside was a tin of Rugelach that would have made my Grandmother proud!

On the Dean & Deluca website, they mention that "A neighborhood “bubbe” entrusted us with her recipe and we've honored her memory by ensuring that each pastry is made by hand using the most traditional ingredients."  A "bubbe" is Yiddish for Grandmother.

These delectable cookies make an excellent gift.  My Mom who is visiting from New York and I shared a cookie as soon as the Tin arrived.

Edible Arrangement Fresh and Beautiful

I was resting on the sofa this morning when I heard a knock at the door.  Henry went to answer it and when he walked back in had this amazing Edible Arrangement gift basket which is made from fresh fruit.  It is from my cousin Lori and her significant other Rich in New York.  It is amazing.  I love fresh fruit, packed with vitamins, and this is definitely the best time of year to be munching.  Much thanks to Lori and Rich for making my 1st day home memorable.

A Puddy Cat

Henry had a cat prior to meeting me that ended up becoming custody of his ex when they parted.  A few times Henry mentioned he would like a cat, but our pet limit right now stops with Ella & Louie.

However, when Henry came home from work a few days ago, I surprised him with this Grow-A-Head cat named Puss.
