There I am, Mr. busy in my office in downtown Long Beach. Just three more days to go before major surgery and I am calm, let me repeat I AM CALM, well maybe just cool and collected.
The colorful artwork behind me in the picture are two of 5 pieces I purchased years ago from a gallery. They are the artwork of Rupert Jansen Smith who was a printer for Andy Warhol, and a decent artist himself. The silk screens are all of fishing lures. Why fishing lures? Well this time of year when I used to live in New York, my brothers, uncle and I would spend endless hours on local fresh water lakes fishing for bass. I look at those silk screens everyday and long for nature and some fishing.
With that said, at the top of my Wants, Dreams & Wishes list is recoup, heal, kick cancer in the butt, and to make enough money to buy a piece of land in Ojai which is about an hour and a half from Long Beach, and to buy this modular mid century vacation home. Why Ojai? It is close to Lake Casitas which has an ample supply of Nature and Bass! Also, Ojai has a great weekend Farmer's Market where Henry can enjoy himself while I enjoy fishing. The modular home is the work of Michelle Kaufman Designs and is her mkLotus model. The mkLotus is only 672 square feet, one bedroom, one bath, but looks perfect for a weekend retreats mkLotus Floor Plan.
A little art work, a beautiful mid century clean design, and I am full of wants, dreams and wishes.
